Factor SpiralsThis visual art project supports understanding of how factors, products and multiples are related. The project allows students to choose the number of spaces they color (which determines the width and number of spirals), and the number of colors they use. We suggest using the slide show which uses the Notice/Wonder and Zoom In strategies which will empower students to figure out the math for themselves as opposed to having the project be explained by the teacher.

Slide ShowBy looking closely, students may notice or wonder about how the spirals are designed, why they go clockwise or counterclockwise, and how the math works.
