Mrs. Hammond's Class 2021/2022
4/4/22
I teach first grade at Brookside Elementary School in Willits, California. This year I have 25 students. Having a big class and not being able to have volunteers has been a bit of a blessing this year in terms of creativity. It forced me to let go and trust the kids to follow the process independently while I pulled kids for small group instruction. When I recently surveyed my students about what they thought was easy in school and what they found to be hard, more than half listed art and drawing as being hard. I think independence in art pushes my students' comfort zone in a good way.
