NorCal SEL Community of Practice- Closure 

This presentation connects dual coding theory with intentions we want to hold from the session.  The concept was card suits.  

• Hearts: how did you feel about something today?  This includes gratitude, an feeling we should always cultivate. 
  
• Clubs: reminds me of a tree, what opportunities for growth do you see in yourself, a program you’re involved with or a group of people? 
• Diamonds: are gems of wisdom gathered from people today
• Spades: used to dig in the garden, what do you want to dig into and learn more about?

To help you encode your idea in your mind, consider making a doodle of the thought you’re having.  For example, if you’re feeling grateful for a person in your life, you might draw..  If Sandra’s exploration with us of the mood meter was wisdom you want to encode, you might draw something like this...  I you want to dig into Benefit Mindset and how Adult SEL and self-care can help people thrive under stress, you might draw something like this...  So take a moment to envision the suit you resonate with and then doodle an image to store the idea in your mind.  You’ll have a chance to share your thinking in breakout rooms.
